Bottom Line: The #USA appears to be committed to maintaining a troop presence in #Afghanistan throughout the #Trump presidency, or until #victory has been declared.
Pros: Trump and his National Security Advisors went back to the drawing board in making their decision. Trumps is committed to "ending" this war in a way that honors the sacrifice of so many by making including their legacy in the eventual "victory" that will be declared. The #DOD will no longer broadcast plans or operations which can help terrorist avoid capture or death. Pakistan will be held more accountable for being a safe-harbor of terrorism from this point forward - use of sanctions and witholding $B's in aid seem to be the motivation to cooperate. This war will be led by the Pentagon rather than politicians.
Cons: We are still engaged in a war in Afghanistan. DC is still running the war - just led by political generals rather than politicians and State Department. No clear goal established for a clear victory. Trump set the stage for the Taliban to eventually lead Afghanistan once the US declares victory and exits. No clear understanding that long-term US-backed government will fail in the absence of heavy US fighting forces - it's already happened around the country in areas already handed over to Afghan forces.. Other: If Trump acknowledges that "Ultimately, it is up to the people of Afghanistan to take ownership of their future," then should we continue to wrestle with history and spend more money and lose more lives for a country that will determine its own path? This is a disappointing announcement overall. But, if a President decides to stay engaged, then the proposed method seems to be about as good as is politically acceptable. Although, total war - look it up - would probably be much more effective in the long run. #war#news#politics#fakenews#realnews#xpoliticalnews#OEF#veterans#Army#Marines#Navy#Airforce

Feeling good tonight until my knee started acting up. 30 minutes into a 45 minute workout my knee starts to give out. It's given me problems for over 20 years and tonight was one of those nights it happened to pop in to say hello 😬. What sucks about it was, I was feeling great tonight. Pushing hard and kicking some ass 💥 but than with 15 minutes left, here comes the knee issues. The same issues that pop up every few months. The same damn issues I've had for years. So what did I do. Nothing much, I slowed down and adjusted. I modified when needed and finished strong. It was a struggle but shit happens and you know what, I finished 👍🏻😊.
At the beginning of the summer, I told myself I should be more active on social media. I haven't really done that yet, but there's still a few days left of summer. I finished up my internship at The Beaver County Times this past weekend so I'm going to post some photos over the next few days that I never got around to sharing. This one's from one of my first assignments - Dave Kane, left, and Larry Googins, members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 862, the largest VVA chapter in Pennsylvania, place flags on veterans' graves with other members of the VVA and VFW on Aug. 25 at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Daugherty Township. #vva#vfw#veterans#memorialday
