"Die Luft der Freiheit weht." This unofficial motto is part of the Sanford university seal - in German! It's a quote from Ulrich von Hutten and has been selected by David Starr Jordan - Stanford's first university president.
I found this while I was going through my pictures. It's my ID from when I first enrolled at a university...back when I was only 20 years old. Where has the time gone?!? Also, how are my cheeks chubbier in this ID, when I was way skinnier than I am now? 😂😂😂
Lyon from my Balcony"@zaydahubert(Zayda Hubert) of @fiuinstagram at @Lyon @villedelyon “Lyon from my balcony"
No, not the roaring lion you might be familiar with although it is the symbol of the city which can be seen all over. Lyon, is the capital city in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, sits at the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Lyon is a majestic place known for its history, art, architecture, and good food. Yes the gastronomy capital of the world is quite a view from my balcony. In front of me was the théâtre des Célestins, more than 200 years old and still running. Also way in the distance,on the hill was the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Visiting Lyon city was just an incredible experience, beautiful city, best food ever and history everywhere had let me to choose Lyon as one of the most amazing city I have ever visited.
"Shelter" by @katleenli (Katleen Li) of @fiuinstagram at @villedelyon
As I sat under the turquoise-gold shelter of the Lyon Cathedral, my faith was protected. It was not politicized, it was not challenged, and it was not doubted. I understood that on the other side of those walls where the mosaics were assembled and the glass was stained, it would not be like that. But I didn't need it to. For under the turquoise-blue shelter, my faith was refueled.
