How does this make you feel? I am always wondering about how setting influences writers. Why Bohemia for Winter's Tale? Double tap if this produces magical daydreaming! #shakespeare#prague#teaching#teachers
Aren't these STEM Bins everything? Obviously I am not quite done with them yet. I need to go get a few more pencil boxes and am waiting for my Amazon shipment to get here with all of the goodies that will go inside of these STEM Bins. I really wanted to give my students options on things they can do and/or work on if they finish their work early. In my opinion, telling them to get a book out or draw in their journal everyday can get pretty repetitive. However, I have nothing against that because I will definitely give them the option of writing in their journal or grabbing a book from our classroom library! I really just want to focus on giving them more CHOICES to choose from! You may be asking how do these STEM Bins work? Well I plan on making this an open center that my students can go to whenever they have finished their work. I will also include these STEM Bins into my daily centers. Students can grab their own Bin or work with a partner and take a set of task cards to a quiet area in the classroom. They can build whatever they would like OR they can try and build something from the task cards. For example, they can try building a boat, or a robot, or a certain shape, etc. The bundle also comes with extension questions that can help challenge them even more. The extension questions ask things like: Can you make your object taller? Can you make it hold weight? Etc. I just love how this will help improve my students critical thinking skills! I got this bundle from @teacherspayteachers @teachoutsidethebox for only $6.00! It comes with everything you will need to print and laminate everything on your own! I will upload a picture of what my center looks like in my classroom after I get it all set up in a few weeks! 😊 #iteachfirst#teachersofinstagram#teacherspayteachers#teachersfollowteachers#teachersofinsta#teacherstuff#STEM#firstgrade#teachingisfun#teachersoninstagram#teaching#teach#igteachers#teacherfriends#firstgrade

For morning work we personified Protection (in the style of J. Ruth Gendler's The Book of Qualities). Here's what one client wrote:
Protection is a strong willed man in life, like the big brother or best friend you always want around. He always knows what is best for those around him and never seems to make the wrong decision. He looks after himself and others completely. He is soft spoken with firm authority in his actions. Like a blessing from God.
How would you personify protection?
How fast did a 15 million year old camel walk? That is the question our junior scholars are trying to answer this morning. They are measuring leg bones of "Ned" the camel and the stride length (distance between footprints) to calculate how fast the camel was going when it made these footprints 15 million years ago in Barstow.
Langston Hughes was a leader of the Harlem Renaissance and a great poet, activist, novelist and playwright. In addition to 15 books of poetry, he published a number of novels and short story collections, nonfiction books such as A Pictorial History of the Negro in America, plays, children’s books, and more.
