for those who don't know: an eating disorder is an unhealthy relationship with food. the most common are anorexia nervosa and bulimia.
the largest and most impactful step in the process of recovering is realizing that you are so much better than your thoughts. it is to understand that you will be happy and healthy once you recover.
an amazing coping strategy for when you're thinking of a b/p or to weigh yourself is to practice mindfulness. mindfulness is living in the present. a method of using mindfulness is called grounding. -
here are the steps for grounding:
•name 3 objects you can see
•name 2 noises that you can hear
•name 3 things you can physically feel (can be as simple as the feeling of your feet on the ground, or your hair on your face)
•name 2 things you can taste •name 1 scent that you smell
having an adult that you trust to monitor your progress can be very helpful. ensure that you are choosing an adult that is actually helping you along, and not pushing you back to how you were. if you have nobody, i am here to talk to. there are also eating disorder hotlines. take care and i love you so FUCKING much.
