So its been a while Instagram but I havent really missed you! You may be wondering why all of a sudden from posting photos everyday I now havent posted for the last two weeks. Well quite simply I needed a break! Why? So ill admit it, I became obsessed with Instagram and it wasnt healthy. I dont like to admit that but its the truth. 💥

Every day I would constantly look at Instagram, post photos and often look at others people posts and start to compare myself with them. Comparing myself to others would often make me feel shitty! Why do I not look like him? Why are they travelling the world while im not.  It became a really bad habit. I would feel pressure to post everyday and this was only because I thought I had to! I started to realise how much time and energy I was actually giving to this outlet. Instagram also became a way for me to blanket things that I needed to deal with. It would even get to me if certain posts only got a few likes! Crazy right but its all true. Basically I was using social media the wrong way! 💥

Its time for a new start though! I have learnt my lesson and now im going to use social media the right way! I dont feel the pressure anymore, ill post when I want to. Im not going to compare myself to others, im happy with myself, I love my body, im happy with where I am but I want more and im going to work hard to get it except enjoy the journey along the way. I want to motivate and inspire others and meet new awesome people! Rather than spending hours on social media im going to read, expand my knowledge, learn more about myself and share what I can with the rest of you so we can all become better versions of ourselves! 💥

Still no chest exercises for me so I did some more #legs. I also did my first #hiit for a while, I decided not to use my weighed vest today. 20 mins AMRAP -  2 x wall walks, 15 push ups, 20 metre bear crawl, 100 metre run. My heart rate hit 95% a couple of times and my shoulders were fried. Mission accomplished.

My slightly simplified guide to leg training...for physique/bodybuilding goals:
-
✔ Squat twice per week and progressively overload.
✔ Do deadlifts and RDLs both once. per week and progressively overload ✔ Train legs 2-3 times per week.
✔ Spread your volume over the training days. 15-20 sets per week is usually a good starting point for quads. 12-15 for hamstrings. 5-10 for glutes. 12-15 for calves.
✔ Vary rep ranges between 6-20...squats for 20 reps probably isnt a good idea, leg extensions would be a better suit.
✔ Stop hitting failure every session and focus on keeping your RPE around 8. This should mean your intensity is inbetween 65-75% of 1RM for each exercise.
✔ Intelligently plan increases in RPE and intensity to maximise overload.
✔ Dont do jump squats or jump lunges inbetween every set (saw someone doing this the other day).
✔ Do hip thrusts.
✔ Keep your form strict. This will allow you to track progression efficiently, reduce injury risk and ensure that the target muscles are being worked maximally.
✔ Rest after your workout...DON'T do cardio especially HIIT...doing so will disrupt the recovery process.
✔ Stay consistent.

Sciatica treatment - The Dragon Sequence.
The Dragon Sequence is something that my Yoga instructor often incorporates into my weekly Yin Yoga class...
It is quite an intense series of poses and I sometimes experience some discomfort whilst doing it...
However, it is recommended for Sciatica sufferers and I have found it provides quite a lot of symptom relief the following day...
Start in a standard hip flexor stretch. Make sure your front knee is stacked immediately above your ankle.
Lean forward, keeping your back as neutral as you can (don't roll or hunch shoulders) and place your hands down, parallel with your front foot.
Finally, lift your toes up and roll your foot over onto your ankle carefully - I actually struggle a little here due to legacy ankle injuries so don't force your joints too much.
It is okay (if you can) to allow your knee to move forward beyond your ankle.
I normally hold each of the three poses for 60 seconds, making the whole sequence just 3 minutes long.
