//PLASTIC FREE JULY CHALLENGE: 26. SKIP THE STRAW//
Each year, Australians discard millions of plastic straws. As @thelaststrsawaus suggests, sip, don’t suck. .
If you must suck (and I'm trying SO hard not to be immature here :P), try a reusable glass straw or stainless steel straw instead. We love the ones from @floraandfauna, @biomestores and @ecotoys.
That moment when a customer review matches perfectly with your goals for a product ❤️ Thank you, Ana, for this incredible review of our Bio Correct Multi-Action Concealer! My family made the trip to Traverse City today to see me in my first feature length film on the big screen at Traverse City Film Festival! I am so happy they were able to see this amazing piece of work. I'm so proud of how it turned out. #film#filmmaking#actor#actorslife#gogreen#MSU#msutcff

My mom is right when she says that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Many people experience dramatic decreases in sugar and caffeine cravings when they finally commit to daily breakfast plans. If you have a cup of coffee and chocolate for breakfast, you’ll most likely fall head- long into a sugar crash by late morning. This type of eating — loading up on caffeine and sugar in the early morning hours — is all too common. Cravings for more sugar and caffeine are more likely in the afternoon if you rely on them in the morning. Breakfast is the most important part of my meal planning because preparing a healthy breakfast that includes the most supportive foods for me and my body type ensures that my energy is more stable throughout the day. I believe that if our energy is stable and our nutrition needs are met, we will be less likely to go off track with junk food or other less-than-desirable choices. What do you have for breakfast? #healthyfood#healthyeating#healthylifestyle#healthyliving#healthylife#healthy#health#vegan#veganfood#veganism#veganlife#rawvegan#gogreen#garden#gardening#gardens#snack#breakfasttime#breakfast#organicfood#organic#organicgardening
Obsession alert! Baking soda as a kitchen cleaner! 😮 All the grease spatter on my oven and the side of my fridge- GONE! Just mix baking soda and water to make a paste. I used an old cloth rag to scrub, no paper towel waste needed! And the bowl I used to make the paste just goes in the dishwasher because it's a completely nontoxic cleaner!
1st pic is the side of my fridge.. the left side has been cleaned, the right side still in need of baking soda treatment! ☺️ 2nd & 3rd is the before and after of that awful stove grime that I had yet to find a cleaner strong enough! Last pic.. just admiring my work from afar. The paste also worked on the sticky exhaust residue on the microwave! #cleankitchen#zerowastelifestyle#nontoxiccleaning#cheapproduct#noplastic#bakingsodascrub#gogreen#imobsessed .♻️.

ADS // In her piece "How Advertising Has Contributed to Wasteful Consumption", our academic writer Polly Cunanan explores advertising. She writes: "At this point in time, the culture of promotion is everywhere that there is simply no escape from it... Goldsmiths University Professor Aeron Davis argues that whether we are conscious of it or not, advertising has permeated our lives so much to the point that we are not even conscious of it. He stated: “This is not just about explicit selling and buying. The promotional arms race has seeped into all fields, powerfully re-shaping individuals, organizations and our wider society.” Today you will be exposed to thousands of ads. More if you live in an urban environment and work outside of your home. By the end of the day, you'll have seen hundreds on social media, whether you realise it or not. Exposure can leave you feeling mentally fatigued and dissatisfied with what you have. It can leave you feeling like you're not enough. We recommend ad blockers, reporting irrelevant ads, practicing mindfulness and perhaps unfollowing 'aspirational' accounts that portray unrealistic decadent lifestyles. day 26 @plasticfreejuly // (MORE) TINY SWAPS: whether you've already started making little changes -- some of you have told me you're getting your own reusable cups and straws & I am 😻OVER THE MOON 🌙 -- or are still looking for a place to start, my best advice is:
1)👉🏼choose one or two things you notice you go through a lot. (for me, the list was LONG 📃 so don't feel bad if yours is too 🤓)
2)👉🏼then, start with ✨what is the EASIEST✨ for you to swap out. this prevents you from getting too overwhelmed too quickly. 🙌🏼 I understand to-go cups and BYO-er'thang can have you feeling, "UHG, now I have to CARRY it everywhere!" 🙄🙄🙄which is v. valid! but don't worry, we'll get there gradually 😎
in this case, maybe try swapping out something that ISN'T portable; for me -- cotton facial pads. 💁🏻personally, I used to go through these daily, using one or two every night to wipe off makeup cleanser and toner. 💄 .
✅swap solution: invest in reusable facial rounds! I got these @packagefreeshop for $13/pack of 5. the actual rounds were sold out when I went to purchase, but I love these oblong shaped ones all the same 😂. they're made of unbleached organic cotton (read: ⚡️SOFT AND PURE AF⚡️) and not only save me from spending 💰 $4-5 every month💰 or so for new facial pads (aka ~$60/ a year!) but they also help cut out waste from using otherwise disposable rounds! 🙅🏻I can use these cloths about 4-6 times before they need to be washed, then I just toss them into the laundry with the rest of my stuff. 💦 💸NOTE: reusable facial rounds can also start for as low as $3 a pack (shop @etsy); maybe even less than or the same as a pack of disposables!!! ✔️
as I probably mentioned once before (pre-zero waste even?), I've also been trying to go make-up-less a few days a week which I realize has contributed to how often I need to use facial rounds, but at least now I know that when I DO need them, I have lovely waste-free options on hand! (also, featuring a sup-fabs toner spray by @ilovebodystuff)
🙏🏼bottom line: it's super important to find YOUR starting point, whether it's a beauty routine or otherwise. 🗝start with what you do best first! 💁🏻
