M E N T O N E ... Back home for a week and the weather is finally bringing its A game! 17°C today, pretty hot compared to my beloved Wanaka! 😂 Feeling the Spring vibes with my neighbour's magnolia tree, definitely one of my favourite flowers. #kellygoeshome 🏵😊🌞🌿🏵
Original plan was to road trip up to Oregon for the eclipse, but decided it was okay to wait to do a solo trip until I was more prepared. I am a proud self-proclaimed free spirited adventurer, as many of you are.. Sometimes (and only sometimes) we need to calm our adventurous tits. Spontaneity runs through our blood and we tend to say yes to most things. It's okay to say no when you have to and to put your needs first rather than thinking of the next thing you want to check off the bucket list. Of course I still went on a smaller road trip up to Nor Cal 😂 but still, makin' life count isn't just about adventuring til you can't no mo like I thought life should be... It's about keeping erthing balanced, your wants and needs. 🙃
Happiness is a state of mind 🙂
There's the saying, "Not every day is good, but there is something good in every day."
→ What good things have happened for you today?
For me it has been getting a workout in before starting my work, a good meeting, and a healthy lunch (and @pinkberryswirl froyo for dessert. Ha!) I missed the eclipse since I was caught up with other things and forgot 😩😭🌓 but I'm trying to focus on the positive instead of the fomo... #MondayMotivation
Also: how amazing is this view from above in Capri, Italy?! 🇮🇹
This is @sayaland. Her caption below.
"It finally happened you guys... I woke up this morning and a straight 100% of my clothes were dirty. I had to throw on one of my husband's WORK UNIFORM shirts, cuz most of his clothes are dirty too. I just don't have the HOURS it takes to be washing shit by hand! During sunlight hours! A girl's gotta work! And yes, one day I totally plan to stop being a little American bitch and quit complaining about having to do laundry by hand. One day. Someday. Not today. 100% the worst part about life in Mexico." 👗👖👕👔#expatlife#overdoseintravel
Never be afraid to stand out. When we created DUFMOD, we knew we wanted to stand out from the crowd. Whilst using factories to mass produce products may be cheaper, we knew we wanted our products to be that extra bit special. This is why we’ve travelled the globe to source our products from local artisans who hand weave/stitch/create each and every product. When you purchase a product from us, we can guarantee it was made with love 💕
This morning in my pre-eclipse yoga practice, I heard this quote and it resonated right away. "Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity." How does this apply in your life?
I'll share what came up for me.
While it can be translated in many ways, it stood out in a couple ways for me in this present moment - the way I am living my life and the way I am sharing my purpose and in working with others.
When I live my life when others are around me, I do my best to focus my love-filled attention on them. The phone is off, away, my thoughts are focused and open - not centered on me, but centered on the moment.
When working with others, my mind and head space are clear, filled with curiosity and love and yearning to understand and help others dig deeper into finding their way - where they are in the present moment and then where they want to move forward.
Love-filled attention is generous.
Selfish attention is draining.
We can all feel the difference in our own lives.
What has lit up my world lately is the love filled attention and quality time from my man. My love language is quality time and that's followed by words of affirmation.
When I feel abundant in my life, I feel more focused as to where my attention goes so that I can best serve others (and be generous with my time and energy). It's also important to set boundaries as to where your time and attention flow, too. <3
Wondering what's off of the last stop on the Khlong boat line? The Airplane Graveyard! There are a few decommissioned airplanes (including a double decker 747) in a field about 10 minutes away (walking) from the Khlong. The smart family living next to the field chained the area off, so you have to pay to get in (200 Baht/person). Once you're in, you can walk through the field and into the planes (which have been gutted). This mighttttt have been my favorite part of the trip if I'm being honest. So damn cool.
So the eclipse was a total bust down here (25%), booo. But my dad in Oregon said it got dark there! How rad 🌞🌙 Super bummed to have missed it... lucky you guys who live in the States! I used to live in Topanga Canyon (CA) - and for celestial events like these I used to just hike up the mountain down the road from my house and camp out. Oh, those magical days. Although today I spent the day working on a really exciting project here at my favorite café in this beautiful city and this beautiful sunshine, so I'm not complaining. Did you guys watch it? 🌕🌖🌗🌘☀ Comment if you have a picture of it posted so I can go seeeeeee!
••TELL ME: did y'all see the eclipse today? 🌚🌝I may or may not have looked directly at the sun. Hopefully I don't go blind so I can continue enjoying gorgeous beach views like this one from earlier this summer in Newport (also, my phone changed gorgeous to bourgeois about five times in a row while I was typing this caption....if that tells you anything about me 😂).
unplanned and indescribable
We had no idea that we were descending into the second deepest canyon in the world. Without a tour or guide, without proper supplies or enough water we set on a 30km, two day trek. None of us made it without crying a time or two but it ended up being the best and most rewarding experience of my life.
My smile says it all 🐨😁
I've always wanted to touch a koala 😍
I learned so much about them today. What hit me was the fact that many of them are losing their homes because of humans cutting down their trees for logging 🙁
They actually sleep over 18 hours a day so I feel sorry that this 2 year old cutie had to move for me but also happy I got to hold her. They sleep so long due to the eucalyptus leaves being low in nutrition and high in fibrous matter so they need a lot of energy to digest 🍃
I just wish I was koalaified to look after them 😍😂 #whatajob#punsaremyfave
Happy 25th Birthday Sziget! You were my fourth festival this summer and I'm still loving it! 🎉 🎂🎈☀️ One major highlight compared to others was that Sziget is friendly to savvy travelers. The 'festival prices' were quite decent! You could expect to pay approx. 800HUF for a beer, that's approx. £2.50 - Super cheap for London standards!
Airbnbs are also really affordable in Budapest which meant we didn't need to camp this time round! The luxuries of waking up in a bed (or floor) and being able to get ready properly was definitely a bonus! 🛌 But ofcourse camping is fine too if on a budget! 🏕️
You can also buy day tickets and pick and choose when you want to go within the week. A bit of an opportunity to save some money by only choosing one or two days! I went for two days and it was plenty.
In terms of music, there's a little bit of something for everyone. Steve Aoki was definitely my favourite, particularly during cake face but not so much when we were queuing to get in. The Chainsmokers were my second, my crush on Andrew Taggart might be a slight contributer to that! 💘 And Galantis wasn't too far behind.
Overall a festival worth going to, not sure about going next year though. I'm trying not to double up! (Minus Tomorrowland, there is always an exception for that!) 😁
Soo comfortable, at least until every time something moved in the forest and I peered out of the hammock for the next half hour... Throwback to adventures in Sardinia, when hotels were expensive and hostels nonexistent, so we lived like this😉
My immediate takeaway from a meditation during the eclipse:
I am a total leader and change maker and My duty is to own that at all times.
I knew this. But I was reminded of it. It is so silly to doubt - ever- even for a second.
And it’s one thing to recognize yourself, know what your purpose is in a moment or many moments. But it is a whole other thing to actually live from that place and learn how to live in leadership.
My clients are all leaders, changemakers and way showers too.
And I recognize this same hesitation in them.
They come to me with accomplishments, education, passion, and ALWAYS a strong drive to lead.
Yet they question their leadership. They say:
“I don’t really know what I want to say.” (Ummm, yes you do)
“If I try to be ________________, I will have to do it the way others are doing it and I don’t like that.” (Do it in a new way that feels good to you)
“I don’t think anyone will pay for what I want to offer.” (As long as you think that, they will not)
I was inspired by the eclipse because of its strong message of the feminine moon stepping in front of the masculine sun - leading, making an impression, shaking things up and showing a different experience of the usual day/night set up.
We are in a time when many women are being called to lead. And maybe because society has been structured largely for the male/yang energy of leadership, our work, in many ways, is to create a feminine leadership paradigm, there can be a hesitation within us to step up and fully own that. Identify WITH it. Live it and breathe it all the time.
I don’t mean to speak for everyone. But I don’t think it’s just me….Thoughts? (I could write a whole separate book, maybe, about this as I reflect upon my own fumbles and challenges in certain leadership positions where the masculine paradigm of more aggressive forms of leadership totally confused and confounded me,)
💫What's your resent MAGIC moment?💫
🌴COCKTAILS & SUNSETS 🌴
This really sums up my resent time in Thailand.
Good friends & good times. I count every moment as a blessing, and to be able to spend it with special people in a beautiful location makes it that much more amazing! MAGIC MOMENTS IN MAGIC PLACES!
#solareclipse2017 just WOW!! Who else saw the eclipse today?!? We went to a state park and had approved solar eclipse glasses... so we sprawled out on the ground and watched the whole thing! They had an awesome telescope and this is the view from the telescope! Seriously amazing! Did you see it!? ☀️🌑💙
