Far too many non-vegans (and vegans as well) act as if vegans are the focus of veganism. It's not about us. It's not about non-vegans. It's about the victims of exploitation, who suffer every imaginable horror as a result of non-vegan practices and habits. Veganism is a moral baseline whose purpose is to oppose and object to any and all unnecessary exploitation against every sentient species.
To those who reject veganism, it's not us you're rejecting, it's common decency. What you refuse to accept is the morality that most people already agree with, no matter how much they try not to acknowledge it. When people focus on vegans as an argument against veganism, they are avoiding the entire point of the movement. Whenever anyone argues against veganism, they're almost always arguing (in vain) against their own ethics.
When vegans make themselves the focus of their activism, it promotes the idea that veganism is a personal choice for personal benefit or gain. We don't go vegan for ourselves. We don't go vegan for notoriety, attention, fame, admiration, or vanity. When someone's activism says or shows more about the activist themselves than the animals they claim to speak out for, it brings their motives and sincerity into question. Far too many who call themselves vegan still exploit the animals whose bodies and byproducts they don't eat or wear. Make no mistake, there is nothing vegan about using animal exploitation as a platform for self promotion or profit.
Go vegan for the right reason, because it's the right thing to do.
Abolish all exploitation.
