it's silly, but I had so much anxiety launching this shop with @thereal_feven, like what if I fail? but the overwhelming response for you all is breathtaking--makes a #habesha girl 😢. faith over fear always in all ways. #love#eritrea#ethiopia
Do you love Kifto? Are you more of a vegan person? Either way @Batikitchen is serving up some delicious #Ethiopian food that will surely hit the spot, and we are so excited to introduce them as apart of the NY African Restaurant Week 2017 line up!!
Haven't had time to go sight seeing and take pictures yet but this happened outside my window today and it felt worth a video. No idea if this was religious or in protest or just for the fun of singing (and cracking whips?). Hope to see more this weekend!
I'm still trying to put together my feelings regarding the experience of travelling around the Omo Valley in Ethiopia and visiting the various tribes that exist within it. Certainly there's a sense of adventure as you gaze at people who seemed to have stepped out of a history book. But the "monetisation" of it all, and how it's managed by the system leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This photo maybe well sum it all up for me. Sure, it's an exotic photo of a Dassenech woman and her baby in a far off land. But the face tells a different story. When I handed her the mandatory payment for a photo, she just stared at the money. And I felt pretty awful. I wish I knew if my visit is helpful to anyone apart from the local "guides" and the governing body of the region. Some education on my part is required, I think #solotravel#backpacker#ethiopia
I was so excited when I learned that my dear sister @cristinalaskar Founder of @connectavid partnered with @edenprojects!!! For each and every person who creates a profile on connectavid.com Eden Reforestation Projects will plant a tree on your behalf for free! ⠀
Every year Eden plants MILLIONS of tress in #Haiti , #Madagascar , #Ethiopia , and #Nepal . They employ local villagers in effect reducing extreme poverty and restoring healthy forests at the same time. It's truly a WIN WIN! All you have to do to make a difference is create a profile at connectavid.com and a tree gets planted and a life gets saved. ⠀
Please share this and spread the word.⠀

Various nations from across the Horn of Africa have invested troops in Somalia to help resurrect the failed state. In order to save the money given them for their accommodation allowance, many opt to live in crude lean-to structures like this one instead - for their entire 12 month tour.
Thank you to our community members who showed up last night to continue to support our vision and see what exactly their support has helped us achieve. And S/O to the EDF team @rediate_, @_koril And Meseret Hailu who work day and night to make this all a reality!
